We’ll talk about cast members who have gone on to become bonafide Hollywood icons since this movie, potential casting what-ifs, and even a few First Wives Controversies.

ICYMI: Welcome to “Re-release September” – an opportunity for new listeners to hear some of our earlier episodes.

First, up, a season 1 replay, episode 21, that we lovingly renamed, “Saliva Balls and Baseball Groupies” where we finally meet one of Suzanne’s exes, Jack Dent. He’s a famous baseball pitcher with some infamous stories to publish in his new “tell all” book. Suzanne is NOT happy.

And come back Thursday for an "extra" "Extra Sugar" - all about Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, a common "Designing Women" reference.

REMINDER: It’s “Re-Release September” where we’ll be sharing some episodes we’ve previously aired. Thursdays are “Extra Sugar” days, but this month, we’re “re-sugaring” some things. 

First up: a deep dive into one of LBT’s favorite references: Jim Bakker. But it’s two for the price of one because we’re also talking about Tammy Faye. They were two of the most famous televangelists in the United States throughout the  ‘70s and ‘80s, until their empire came crashing down under heaping piles of scandal. We discussed the highs, the lows, and their remaining legacy in this one.

Welcome to week 2 of “Re-release September.” This one was, and will always be, a gut puncher. In season 2, episode 4, LBT and Designing Women take on the AIDS crisis, homophobia, and contraception in schools all in one episode. This one was all-time, y’all. 

In the accompanying “Extra Sugar,” we discussed the real events that inspired this one...right down to the episode title, as well as Designing Women’s place in LGBTQIA+ TV history. 

We simply couldn’t revisit “Extra Sugars” from this season and not revisit the woman, the myth, the legend: Ms. Annie Potts. 

That’s right, in this week’s “re-sugaring,” we talked about all things Annie. From Pretty in Pink to her current beloved role as Meemaw on Young Sheldon, she’s delighted more than a few generations of audiences…including this one.

We’re technically considering this week’s re-release a remarriage. That’s right: we’re returning to Charlene and Bill’s wedding in season 3. You know, the big day with just you, the love of your life, and your exotic dancer. Heart-eyes emojis. Join us as we break down all the wedding festivities!

In the next installment of our “re-sugaring” – that is favorite “Extra Sugars” from season 4, we finally found a perfectly adequate excuse to talk about prohibition and its connective tissue right here in the South.

We discussed what exactly prohibition was (and what it wasn’t), what it did (and what it didn’t), and the ripple effects we still see to this day. 

There’s no “one and done” with this one, but we’ll be looking into ways to cover other angles down the road (including the specific history of moonshine because it has a legacy all its own!).
